In the previous post, I was talking about why you NEVER want to do a news reporter testimonial video. Well, today the script will be flipped. You’ll see why and how to do a news reporter testimonial video the right way.

The first part of the process is to aim to make it fun and spontaneous.

Making it fun and spontaneous is the key.

If you work with clients in person…

You want to approach it the same way you would go about filming that casual selfie video with your friends.

The idea is to NEVER put your clients on the spot with a direct and formal process.

Instead, casually ask them to talk about their story and results.

By being casual about it, it creates a relaxed, authentic atmosphere.

That allows clients to talk freely about positive experiences with your business.

But what if you want to do this with more than one client at a time?

Well, record the first one, and if other clients are around, keep the camera rolling and just walk over to each client.

Again, being friendly and casual, just ask them about their results and experience.

They know their story better than anyone else.

And if they are calm and relaxed, it will come out very easily in this process.

Of course, your client(s) can feel like they are being put on the spot, and they could clam up…

But if you’re happy, excited, and friendly when approaching them, it should turn out alright.

What makes it awful is…

When you make it a formal news reporter-style interview.

That you don’t want to do.

As mentioned in the previous post…

It can come off as intimidating and aggressive, which can lead to unnatural and scripted responses.

By following the casual, fun, and laidback approach, it leads to more relatable and “real” testimonial content.

Long story short, stay away from formal news reporter-style interviews.

If you want to do this style, keep it casual and laid back.

That way you’ll end up with some decent, relatable testimonial videos from clients.
